Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am thrilled to have been called to serve as the principal of Glen Lea Elementary School.  I am very excited about joining a team of hard working individuals as we strive to help continue to make great things happen for scholars.  Teachers play a very important role; however, the role of the parent is a vital to our team.  The combined efforts of parents and teachers working cooperatively with one another is the secret to the child’s success in school.  In my short time on staff, I’ve learned GLES teachers to be very dedicated and willing to do what it takes to help children succeed.  Our school division is committed to helping parents so that students are prepared today to become leaders for tomorrow.  I want what is appropriate for your child and I have high expectations of myself, staff, and the parent community to work hand in hand to accomplish great things.  A few ways you can work cooperatively with the school is by doing the following:

  • Stress the importance of school and the impact on your child’s future
  • Ensure your child attends school regularly and on time
  • Read with your child
  • Talk to your child about school and other positive interests
  • Be sure we always have updated contact information
  • Become an active member of the PTA
  • Keeping a positive attitude when problems arise

Throughout the year, we will celebrate good news and we may encounter some challenges together.  If challenges arise, please first seek the assistance of the teacher for a positive solution.  If you have further questions after attempting to work through the matter after that, then I am more than glad to assist in fact finding and helping create an appropriate solution.  Remember, our goal is to model, teach, support and encourage your child with your help, even when our decisions are not popular or the child’s favorite.

Please know we are here to serve our students and you.  We believe that every child can learn and deserves a chance to learn and grow.  We will do our very best to provide a school environment with pride, dignity and respect so that you are proud to be a part of the Glen Lea Elementary School Community.
