Check out these amazing photos, captured by our student photographers during Photo Club. Students are learning about using different cameras, choosing a subject, and framing their pictures. We can't wait to see how they continue to grow this year!

3rd graders listened to The Chupacabra Ate The Candelabra in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month before building their mini-candelabras and flashlights. They learned about making an electrical circuit as they connected lights to batteries -- and then making it their own!

Get ready to celebrate! We're thrilled to announce a new celebration to recognize our scholars who consistently demonstrate Accountable, Safe, and Kind behavior, as celebrated through our PBIS point system. Starting soon, we will recognize the top two point-earners from one rotating grade level every two weeks. These scholars will receive a token to use at our amazing new STEM vending machine. Please keep an eye out as we celebrate our students' positive behavior!

October is here, which means that it's Fall at the Farm in the library. Students last week were challenged to build something that belongs on a farm. We had groups build barns, pumpkins, creepy carrots, fences, and more. We love hearing them defend and demonstrate their creations.

First graders had a wonderful time at Gallmeyer Farms last week. They saw the pumpkin life cycle in action, as they hunted the patch for their own perfect pumpkin. We are so grateful to all the families who helped make this trip happen! Look at those smiles!

We love finding ways to encourage all the talents and interests of our Lions. Check out these snapshots of Photo Club, Mural Club, eSports, and our Rubik's Cube team. These are just a few of the clubs & activities that students can join here at Glen Lea!

Swinging into new skills ⛳️✨ Our 5th graders had a tee-rific time learning the game of golf on last week's field trip!

Last week's MakerSpace challenge was to build something that you could use in the zoo! We had students build ways to feed animals, safely hold animals, and more. We even had some 1st graders design a whole zoo layout!

Wednesday was a great day, because our students started LAMPS! Students sang and drummed in art, learned their warm-up in gym, checked out library books and started exploring their art... and it's only the beginning of the year!

Thank you, Glen Lea Lions, for a wonderful start to the year! Your smiles brighten our halls every day. We can't wait to see how you will dream big and hustle hard this year. We've got your back every step of the way!

We are so happy to have our halls filled with your smiling faces again! Students practiced routines and procedures, got to know each other a little better, and welcomed each other with big grins all day today. We can’t wait to see what dreams will unfold in 2025-26!

Flashback Friday - We are going to miss these faces! We are grateful for our time with our community in May, celebrating the hard work of these 5th grader students. Whether you're off to be a wolverine, a jaguar, or a falcon -- you'll always be a Glen Lea Lion.

Flashback Friday - We love the Fairfield Library! This is always one of our first field trips of the year... and always so much fun. We listen to stories, sing together, and craft or play with our classmates. Be sure to check out the library this summer for great events !

Flashback Friday -- students had so much fun participating in BattleBots this year with Mr. Frederes, where they designed their own bot to drive in a tournament. This tournament was the talk of the school for several weeks. Check out our winning 2nd grade team!

Flashback Friday -- All summer long, we'll be showing some of our favorite moments from this past school year! Check out these photos of Ms. Fines & the 3rd graders who represented us at LifeReady, showcasing the mural they created for our Telehealth Clinic.

Last week, we had the honor of celebrating our K-4 students for their academic achievement, leadership skills, and ROAR values, as well as for sportsmanship, kindness, and dedication to art. All of our Lions have something amazing to offer the world!

As we wind down this year, we wanted to say THANK YOU again to the Henrico Education Foundation, who provided the Innovative Learning grant for these XL magnet tiles. They continue to be THE hot item in our library, encouraging collaboration and creativity every single day.

Shout out to Coach Brown for an amazing Field Day 2025! We had so much fun playing different games together -- and have heard nothing but rave reviews from teachers and students alike. We are so grateful for his dedication to our students as they learn and celebrate sportsmanship together.

Our students have learned so much in the community this year, including all about dinosaurs at a May trip to the Children's Museum. Check out those big smiles! They are a great place to visit this summer, and even have scholarship membership applications on their website.
